Community guidelines
CitiVybes Karachi is a noticeboard for the city, kept by the people who live in it. These rules are short on purpose. They apply to everyone — members, businesses, moderators and the administrator alike.
1. Post what you saw
Water gone in your block, a road flooded, a tanker price, a new bakery, a lost cat, a mela this weekend — that is what this place is for. Write it as you saw it. If you are passing on something you heard, say so.
2. No politics. None.
This is the one hard rule. No political parties, no party leaders, no parliamentarians, no election talk, no slogans — with or without proof, for or against. It does not matter which side. A post about a political figure comes down within 24 hours, and the member who keeps doing it loses their account.
Why: the day this site takes sides is the day half of Karachi stops trusting it. The problems we post about — water, power, roads — belong to everyone.
What is allowed: describing a civic problem and which department is responsible for it. "No water in Gulshan Block 6 for four days, KWSB complaint number 12345, no response" is exactly the kind of post we want. Naming a politician in it is not.
3. Be straight with people
- No personal attacks, abuse, threats or harassment. Disagree with the post, not the person.
- No hate toward any community, religion, sect, ethnicity, language group or gender.
- No made-up reports. A fake alert can send people the wrong way on a bad day.
- No spam, no chain messages, no "forward to 10 people".
- No selling in the feed. Businesses are welcome — see below.
4. Photos and video
- Up to four photos or 20-second clips per post. Show the situation, not people's faces close-up without a reason.
- Nothing graphic. Accident and injury photos are not allowed; describe it in words.
- Nothing you did not take or do not have the right to share.
- Anything involving a child in a way that is not plainly innocent is removed and reported, without discussion.
5. Businesses, reviews and the right of reply
Honest feedback is never removed because a business pays for advertising. Not for the biggest advertiser, not for a friend of the administrator. A business earns good reviews by giving good service.
What a business does get: a right of reply. Post your side under the review and let neighbours judge. A review is only removed if it breaks rule 3 — a personal attack, abusive language, or something plainly invented — and the same test applies whether the business advertises or not.
6. Who can join
Anyone living in or connected to Karachi, aged 13 or over. Sign-in is by a code sent to your phone or email; there are no passwords. One person, one account.
7. How moderation works
- Anything you think breaks these rules: tap ⋯ on the post and flag it. Political flags go to the top of the queue.
- Moderators are Karachi residents. They act on flags; they do not read every post. Political content is removed within 24 hours of being flagged; abuse as soon as it is seen.
- Every removal is logged with a reason. If your post was removed and you believe that was wrong, write to us through the contact page with the post link.
- Repeated breaches: a warning, then the account is closed.
8. What we will not do
We will not sell your phone number. We will not put a political ad on this site at any price. We will not quietly edit your post — it is either up as you wrote it or removed with a reason.
